British Rail Class 33 – “Cromptons”
British Rail Class 33 diesel electirc Locomotives othewise known as Cromptons or BRCW Type 3′s were ordered in 1957 around the same time as the BRCW sisters Class 26 and 27 diesel locomotives and mainly ordered for the Southern region of the network. A total of 98 Class 33′s were built during 1960-1962 by the Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company and were known as Cromptons due to the Crompton Parkinson equipment installed in them.
